The West African Health Organisation (WAHO) has welcomed its new Director- General, Prof. Palokinam Pitche, and paid tribute to the outgoing D-G, Dr Melchior Aissi.
The organisation on Sunday in a statement said the ceremony was held on Sept. 9, at the ECOWAS Resident Representation in Côte d’Ivoire, marking Pitche’s assumption of duty in Abidjan.
It said that Pitche succeeded Aissi, who led WAHO for four years, during which the organisation advanced regional health cooperation and strengthened efforts to address public health challenges across West Africa.
According to the statement, the ceremony provided an opportunity for WAHO officials and stakeholders to welcome the new leadership while recognising Aissi’s contributions and service to the organisation at the end of his tenure
