Troops of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Asaba in Delta State, have arrested four suspects conveying arms in a commercial tricycle, popularly known as ‘Kekenapep’ in Asaba, heading for an operational location where they intended to use them on harmless, law-abiding citizens.
The suspects identified as Abila Luka, Solomon Yaknam, Sunday Emma and Haruna Garba, were accosted in a tricycle with registration number; ASB 991 VC DELTA, about about 10:30pm on Saturday around Nwanwolo Market behind Asaba Specialist Hospital by troops who were on routine patrol.
Making this known in a statement made available to newsmen in Warri yesterday, Sunday, October 20, Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Major Emmanuel Onoja, gave the breakdown of weapons recovered as; 1 AK47 Rifle, 1 Beretta Pistol 32 Rounds of 7.62MM Special Ammunition, 1 Round of 9MM Ammunition, 2 Cartridges and 1 Magazine.
Others are, 1 Battle Axe, 1 Crow Bar, 1 Cross Bag, 1 School Bag, 3 Small Phones, 2 Android Phones, a Wallet Containing Union Bank ATM Card, $19 and N30, 650.00 (naira only).
He stated that the suspects have been taken into custody for interrogation and further investigation before they would be handed over to the police for prosecution.
