In the latest brawl between Russia and Ukraine, a devastating overnight missile and drone assault on Kyiv has left at least four people dead and 20 others injured, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The attack, which occurred early Friday, targeted residential areas and critical infrastructure, causing widespread damage and disruption across the capital.
The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia launched ballistic missiles and drones from multiple directions, overwhelming air defenses and striking several districts in Kyiv. In the Solomianskyi district, a drone hit an apartment building, crushing cars and damaging the metro system and railway lines, leading to service disruptions.
This assault follows a recent Ukrainian drone operation that destroyed several Russian strategic bombers, prompting a retaliatory warning from Russian President Vladimir Putin. Beyond Kyiv, Russian strikes targeted other Ukrainian cities. In Ternopil, five people were injured, and parts of the city lost power, while in Lutsk, five more were injured, and damage was reported to homes and official buildings.
