​The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) announced on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, that candidates sponsored by state governments owing outstanding registration fees for the 2026 Computer-Based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) will not be able to access their results until all debts are fully cleared.
​The announcement was made during a press briefing held at 11:00 AM at the WAEC Nigeria National Office in Yaba, Lagos.
​Speaking at the press conference, the Head of National Office (HNO) for WAEC Nigeria, Dr. Amos Dangut, emphasized that while results for candidates who fulfilled their financial obligations have been uploaded to the portal, affected state-sponsored students will remain barred from accessing their scores.
​”Candidates who sat the examination through state government sponsorship in states owing the Council will not have access to their results until the respective state governments liquidate their debts. We appeal to the affected state governments to settle their financial obligations to enable their students to proceed with their educational pursuits.” said Dr. Amos Dangut.
Results for non-indebted and fully processed candidates are available at the official portal (waecdirect.org). The withholding of results affects thousands of secondary school graduates seeking admission into tertiary institutions for the upcoming academic session.
WAEC reiterated that certificates and online result verification pins for candidates in the affected states will remain suspended until payment confirmation is received from the respective state ministries of education.
