A Magistrate’s Court in Jos, on Tuesday sentenced a 23 -year-old trader, Preach Moses to 30 months in prison for housebreaking and theft.
The Magistrate, Irene Pati summarily tried and sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to the 3-count charge of trespass, mischief and theft.
Pati, in her judgment gave the convict an option of fine of N20, 000 or spend six months in prison for trespass, N30, 000 or one year in prison for stealing and N50, 000 or one year in prison for mischief.
The jail term is to run consecutively.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp Daniel Damulak, told the court that the case was reported at the Anglo-Jos Police Station on Sept. 18, by one Sunday Choji, the complainant.
Damulak said that the convict trespassed and broke into the complainant’s house and stole one industrial standing fan, some toilet equipment and an electric gas cooker.
He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
