Renowned Nigerian gospel singer Evangelist Patricia Temitope Alabi has threatened legal action against Canada-based cleric Pastor Tayo Kumuyi, who operates as Pastor Tayo Ministries, following defamatory allegations linking her to the death of fellow gospel minister Olayemi Bayonile Bolaji, popularly known as Toluwanisings.
The legal battle stems from a series of broadcast videos published between October 20 and October 24, 2026, across social media platforms, primarily Facebook. In the broadcasts, Pastor Tayo Kumuyi alleged that Alabi was involved in ritual killings and responsible for the untimely deaths of several gospel ministers.
The allegations surfaced shortly after the tragic passing of Toluwanisings on October 14, 2026, at the age of 41. Following his death, Alabi had publicly expressed her grief, honoring his memory and noting that he had joined the angels.
Responding to the allegations, Alabi’s legal representatives at Oakmount Legal Practitioners issued a formal cease-and-desist notice dated October 24, 2026. The legal team firmly rejected all claims of murder and ritualistic practices, describing them as entirely fabricated and unsubstantiated.
”These statements accuse our client of murder and of ritual killing,” the statement from Oakmount Legal Practitioners read. “There is no more serious allegation that can be made against a person, least of all a minister of the gospel. They are false in every particular. You have produced no evidence, because none exists. No investigation, police finding, or court decision supports a word of them.”
The legal document served to Pastor Tayo Ministries includes a strict 24-hour ultimatum demanding the immediate deletion of all defamatory videos and posts across all online handles. Furthermore, the firm required a full retraction and an unreserved public apology to be posted on the same Facebook platform where the claims originated.
Alabi’s counsel also instructed the cleric to immediately cease urging followers to share the allegations and to preserve all digital records for potential court proceedings.
Failure to comply with the demands will result in high-court litigation seeking injunctions and substantial monetary damages for defamation, as well as formal complaints to Meta regarding policy violations on hate speech and harassment.
