Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed reports suggesting a seat-sharing agreement between his administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC), clarifying that his political alliance with the ruling party is strictly confined to securing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election victory in the upcoming general elections.
The governor’s stance was made public on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, in an official press statement issued from Osogbo by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed. Addressing rumors of an office-sharing arrangement for the Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Assembly, Rasheed described the claims as mere fabrication and fake news.
According to the statement, Governor Adeleke emphasized during the recent inauguration of the Presidential Campaign Council that the inter-party coalition was formed with a single directive. He noted that while political partners agreed to unite behind President Tinubu’s presidential bid, all legislative positions remain open for fair democratic contestation.
The governor confirmed that he will actively campaign for Accord party candidates contesting legislative seats across Osun State, dismissing any speculation that seats would be conceded to APC contenders. Adeleke urged all political parties to mobilise voters for their respective candidates rather than relying on unverified rumors, asserting that the electorate ultimately holds the final say on who represents the state in the National Assembly and the State Assembly.
Touching on local government administration, Governor Adeleke assured stakeholders that negotiations regarding local government leadership are designed to protect the interests of both APC and PDP grassroots representatives. He stated that restoring grassroots governance remains a critical priority for all coalition partners, expressing confidence that the ongoing local council matter will be fully resolved before the end of 2026.
