Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has approved an upward review of the remuneration for traditional rulers across all 23 Local Government Areas of the state. The financial enhancement covers paramount rulers, including Emirs and Chiefs, as well as district and village heads.
The announcement was confirmed on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 3:00 PM, following an executive briefing at the Kaduna State Government House.
Speaking on behalf of the 23 local councils during a press conference at the Press Centre in Kaduna, the Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Kaduna State Chapter, Sheikh Jamilu Abubakar Albani, praised the governor’s decision.
According to ALGON, the pay raise is aimed at boosting the morale of royal fathers and recognizing their critical contributions to grassroots governance, peace-building, and intelligence gathering.
This increment encompasses all tiers of traditional leadership in Kaduna State, including Emirs, Chiefs, District Heads, and Village Heads.
Sheikh Jamilu Albani emphasised that the enhanced pay will motivate traditional leaders to better support intelligence-gathering networks and mitigate security challenges in rural areas.
ALGON urged traditional leaders to reciprocate the administration’s gesture by strengthening their collaboration with local government administrators, security agencies, and community stakeholders.
The local government association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Governor Sani’s peace and development agenda to ensure sustainable growth across Kaduna State.
