Ahead of the 2027 general elections, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan (PDP, Kogi Central) has urged voters across the senatorial district to judge political officeholders and returning candidates strictly by their track records, personal integrity, and tangible achievements.
Speaking on Monday, October 19, 2026, during a stakeholder engagement at the Senatorial District Headquarters in Okene, Kogi State, Akpoti-Uduaghan stressed that public office is a trust that must be measured by direct, verifiable impacts on the lives of constituents rather than empty political rhetoric.
Addressing community leaders, youth representatives, and party supporters, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan noted that the electorate in Kogi Central has become far more enlightened and discerning. She noted that the era of political promises without corresponding evidence of service delivery is over.
”As we head toward another election cycle, public service must be evaluated by results,” she declared. “Our people deserve leadership rooted in accountability, character, and visible development. Every candidate seeking re-election or fresh mandates must answer to their past stewardship, legislative output, and community interventions.”
She highlighted key legislative interventions, human capital empowerment programs, and infrastructure projects undertaken during her tenure as proof that effective representation can transform lives across the five local government areas of Okene, Adavi, Okehi, Ajaokuta, and Ogori-Magongo.
Supporting the Senator’s call, the Director-General of the Kogi Central PDP Campaign Council, Mr. Etudaiye, underscored the campaign’s focus on issue-based politics and direct voter engagement.
”Our mandate across every ward, market, and household is to showcase verifiable achievements,” Etudaiye said. “We are taking a message of accountable leadership directly to the citizens. Voters know who stood by them and who delivered tangible progress.”
Also speaking at the event, the PDP Kogi Central Zonal Chairman, Anthony Akuvada, praised the lawmaker’s performance, characterizing her tenure as a transformative era for the senatorial district and urging voters to unite behind proven capacity.
The lawmaker’s call comes amid heightened political activity in the state following recent public statements by former Governor Yahaya Bello, who expressed confidence in sweeping the 2027 Kogi Central senatorial poll.
Responding implicitly to political challenges, supporters of the lawmaker noted that the electorate is ready to weigh past administrative records and character traits before making their choices at the ballot box.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan concluded the gathering by encouraging constituents to actively participate in ongoing voter registration updates and safeguard their democratic rights ahead of the 2027 polls.
