The Federal Government has officially approved between four and five international routes for United Nigeria Airlines, expanding the domestic carrier’s operations to major global destinations including New York, Canada, and Dubai.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, disclosed the new route clearances, marking a significant milestone in Nigeria’s efforts to boost local airline capacity on international corridors.
United Nigeria Airlines is now cleared to operate flights to high-demand destinations, specifically New York (USA), various cities in Canada, and Dubai (UAE). To support this international expansion, the airline is expected to scale up its fleet and operational readiness to meet stringent international aviation standards.
The move aligns with the Ministry of Aviation’s commitment to empowering indigenous airlines, fostering competition, and providing travelers with more options on intercontinental routes.
With these approvals, United Nigeria Airlines joins a select group of domestic carriers expanding their footprints beyond the African continent, aiming to ease travel constraints and lower fares for Nigerian passengers.
