The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), ordered the immediate refund of billions of naira donated to a church project after the funds were traced to proceeds of financial crime.

Speaking in the early hours of Saturday, November 7, 2026, during a pre-Holy Ghost Congress meeting with RCCG church workers at Redemption City, Olukoyede disclosed that Pastor Adeboye directed the full return of the multi-billion naira donation within 24 hours of being alerted to its illicit origin.

The anti-graft chief, who is himself an ordained RCCG pastor, noted that he was explicitly invited by the church leadership to address workers on the imperatives of financial integrity, clean accounting practices, and strict due diligence.

While Olukoyede refrained from publicly disclosing the exact monetary sum, the identity of the donor, or the specific project involved, he emphasized that the commission will spare no one found complicit in financial misconduct, regardless of their religious standing.

In response, Pastor Adeboye reiterated that the church will not protect or shield anyone involved in wrongdoing, mandating all pastors to maintain transparent records.

The disclosure highlights growing concerns over financial crime investigations involving religious institutions and underlines the necessity for religious bodies to scrutinize large-scale contributions before acceptance.
