The African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Campaign Council has launched a scathing attack on President Bola Tinubu, accusing his administration of being completely out of touch with reality regarding the severe economic hardship facing millions of Nigerians.

In a press statement issued on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from the ADC National Campaign Secretariat in Abuja, the Director of Strategic Communication for the campaign council, Phrank Shaibu, forcefully rejected the President’s claims attributing current economic hardships to opposition parties.

The briefing followed the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in Kaduna, where President Tinubu claimed political opponents created the country’s hunger and poverty.

Describing the President’s remarks as a delusional and shameless attempt to evade accountability for economic policies implemented under his stewardship, Shaibu asserted that the administration cannot light the fire of hardship with its own policies and subsequently blame its neighbors for the smoke.

Addressing the political messaging and logistics of the ruling party, Shaibu noted that the APC’s campaign activities cannot mask the everyday economic struggles of Nigerian households.

He criticized the practice of transporting supporters across state lines to project nationwide endorsement, stating that while an administration can hire buses, assemble crowds, and plaster streets with billboards, it cannot hire public consent.

Shaibu emphasized that political rhetoric, such as attacks launched against opposition figures, will not reduce the cost of a single meal for struggling citizens.

He urged the electorate to evaluate the ruling party strictly on its economic performance, specifically rising food costs, exchange rate volatility, and diminished purchasing power, rather than reliance on staged political rallies ahead of the 2027 general elections.
