One construction worker sustained minor injuries on Saturday evening following the partial collapse of a five-storey building under construction on Durban Street in the Wuse II area of Abuja.

The incident triggered a rapid response from emergency authorities after the distress call was received. According to statement disclosures from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) issued through its Abuja Operations Office (AOO), the alert reached first responders at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026.

Upon receiving the report, NEMA immediately activated relevant emergency stakeholders, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and deployed the AYA Emergency Response Ambulance Bay (ERAB) team to coordinate search and rescue operations at the scene.

First responders assessing the scene determined that a section of the five-storey under-construction structure had partially pulled down. No fatalities were recorded in the incident. However, one site worker suffered minor injuries during the partial structural collapse and was promptly evacuated to a nearby medical facility for treatment.

Emergency officials and local authorities have commenced site inspections to ascertain the root cause of the partial collapse and evaluate the structural integrity of the remaining structure.
