In a major effort to bridge personnel deficits and elevate educational standards, the Jigawa State Government formally issued appointment letters to 2,020 newly recruited primary, junior, and secondary school teachers on Friday, October 2, 2026.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Dutse, where State Governor Dr. Umar Namadi led top government officials, community leaders, and education stakeholders in handing over the employment credentials.

The newly onboarded cohort consists of two distinct groups designed to strengthen both primary and secondary institutions across the state’s 27 Local Government Areas:

1,200 Permanent & Pensionable Teachers: Formerly serving under the state’s temporary “J-TEACH” intervention program, these educators were transitioned into permanent civil service positions following rigorous training and competitive evaluation.

820 J-TEACH Trainee Teachers: Newly engaged personnel brought into the J-TEACH scheme to undergo mentorship and institutional placement ahead of future regularizations.

Addressing the inductees during the event, Governor Umar Namadi emphasized that teaching remains the foundation of long-term state development.

”This recruitment reflects our unwavering commitment to ensuring every child in Jigawa has access to quality education delivered by qualified personnel. You must view these appointments not merely as jobs, but as a sacred trust and responsibility to shape the future of our state,” Governor Namadi stated.

Speaking on behalf of the education ministry, the State Commissioner for Education, Dr. Lawan Yunusa Danzomo, highlighted that the deployment will specifically target rural schools that have historically faced severe teacher shortages. He added that monitoring teams will track teacher performance and attendance to maximise classroom impact.

Representing private sector corporate partners at the ceremony, Bulama Laminu, Regional Manager at GTBank, commended the state’s proactive investments in youth development and reaffirmed corporate support for regional education initiatives.

The deployment of the 2,020 teachers builds on previous state initiatives aimed at revamping public infrastructure and reducing the number of out-of-school children.

Alongside the appointment letters, government representatives also distributed educational materials and mobility support, including 450 bicycles to students in remote communities, to ensure both teaching staff and students have the necessary tools to thrive.
