This Friday, June 6, 2025, the Centre for Memories in Enugu will host the June edition of its distinguished speaker series, Ńkàtá Ụ́mụ̀ Íbè, featuring renowned historian Prof. Chima Korieh. The event, commencing at 4:00 PM, will delve into the profound influence of Ìgbò civilization on the broader African continent.
Prof. Korieh, a leading scholar in African history and former president of the Igbo Studies Association, will present a lecture titled “Igbo Ga-Adị: Reclaiming the Igbo Blueprint in the Cultural and Political Evolution of Sub-Saharan Africa.” His discourse aims to explore the origins of Ndi Ìgbò and elucidate how indigenous frameworks have significantly contributed to Africa’s developmental landscape.
The lecture will highlight the Ìgbò people’s contributions to cultural and political evolution in Sub-Saharan Africa, encompassing ancient trade networks, governance systems, entrepreneurial innovations, and cultural practices. These elements underscore the Ìgbò’s role as architects of transformative ideas that have shaped societies beyond Ala Ìgbò.
