In a strategic bid to fortify its internal cohesion and resolve disputes stemming from recent party primaries, the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the establishment of nine-member reconciliation committees across each of the 18 local government areas (LGAs) in the state.
The announcement was made on Saturday, September 19, 2026, during a press briefing at the APC State Secretariat along Oyemekun Road in Akure. The move expands upon the state-level 10-member reconciliation framework inaugurated earlier this year to ensure peace-building mechanisms reach grassroots party faithful.
Speaking on behalf of the party leadership, the State Publicity Secretary of the Ondo APC, Otunba Muyide Adeyeluwa, emphasized that the decision forms part of a broader strategy to reconcile aggrieved aspirants and prepare a unified front ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The 162-man total decentralization initiative is designed to give local party members direct access to internal dispute-resolution channels. State Party Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, noted during the briefing that while political arguments following primaries are natural, party supremacy and collective electoral goals must remain paramount.
Main objectives outlined for the local committees include; Engaging aspirants and stakeholders dissatisfied with the outcomes of recent legislative and party primaries.
Addressing pending intra-party litigations to prevent legal bottlenecks before the election season.
Aligning local campaign structures to deliver maximum votes for the party across senatorial, House of Representatives, and House of Assembly seats.
The overall state reconciliation effort is led by Prince Biyi Poroye, Chairman of the State Reconciliation Committee, who reiterated that the committee’s work focuses on fostering genuine unity and ensuring “no member is left behind or considered expendable” heading into 2027.
The newly constituted nine-member committees across the 18 LGAs are expected to be officially inaugurated at their respective local government headquarters next week to commence immediate dialogue with stakeholders.
