President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held bilateral talks with French tycoon Vincent Bolloré, Chairman of the Bolloré Group, on Friday, September 18, 2026, in Paris.
The meeting, aimed at attracting new investments into Nigeria’s film, entertainment, fibre-optic infrastructure, and digital economy sectors, took place as part of the President’s working vacation in Europe.
During the high-level engagement, the executive leadership of the Bolloré Group—whose global media and digital portfolio includes Canal+, MultiChoice, and Universal Music Group, confirmed strategic plans to deepen the localization of its operations across Nigeria.
Mr. Bolloré characterized Nigeria as the spearhead of Africa’s cultural renaissance, highlighting the global dominance of Afrobeats, Nollywood, and the growing international demand for Nigerian cultural products.
President Tinubu emphasized the need for international investors to anchor more value creation, production facilities, and infrastructure locally rather than relying solely on distribution.
”Today in Paris, I met with Vincent Bolloré of Bolloré Group and his executives for extensive discussions on expanding their investments in Nigeria,” President Tinubu stated via his official communication handle.
“I want more of the value created by Nigerian talent to remain in Nigeria, more production at home, greater investment in our local industries and infrastructure, and more opportunities and jobs for our young people.”
Speaking via an official press statement issued following the engagement, Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information & Strategy, noted that the discussion aligns directly with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Bolloré Group committed to boosting domestic production capacities across film and digital broadcasting through its major subsidiaries, Canal+ and MultiChoice. The groups planned investments will expand fibre-optic networks to support Nigeria’s growing digital and telecommunications landscape.
The delegation outlined programs targeted at talent monetization and job creation for Nigerian youth in the creative and music sectors, leveraging Universal Music Group.
The bilateral talks in Paris follow President Tinubu’s private dinner on Thursday evening with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace, marking a continued push to strengthen Franco-Nigerian economic ties during his European stay.
