Pastor Kingsley Okonkwo, lead pastor of David’s Christian Centre and a popular relationship coach, has faced backlash following the launch of his Christian matchmaking platform, Mentor To Marry, with membership packages costing up to N700,000 annually. The platform is designed to help Christian singles seeking intentional and God-centred relationships.

The platform offers three membership levels, with the Regular package costing N70,000, Premium N350,000 and VIP N700,000 per year. VIP members are offered dedicated matchmaking and coaching support, as well as priority access and personal introductions.

Okonkwo said the platform was created to connect serious Christian singles from different parts of the world. Unlike conventional dating platforms, intending members are required to undergo an eight-week process involving mentoring classes, personal assessments and guided reflection before accessing matchmaking services.

The relationship coach had also criticised what he described as the growing commercialisation of relationships, arguing that financial expectations were making it difficult for some young people to find genuine love. His launch of a paid matchmaking platform, however, has led some Nigerians to accuse him of contradicting his own position.

The platform’s pricing has sparked debate on social media, with critics questioning whether the fees are affordable for young Christians seeking marriage.

However, a free community option is reportedly available for singles who are not ready to pay for the premium services.
