​Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State on Friday commended the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, and the Nigeria Police Force for their unwavering commitment to securing Nigeria and the Southeast geopolitical zone.
​The governor gave the commendation shortly after visiting the state’s DSS headquarters, where he inspected a significant cache of arms and ammunition recently recovered from operatives of the outlawed Eastern Security Network (ESN).
​The recovered weaponry was seized during a successful security operation on Tuesday, targetting top commanders of the ESN, the armed wing of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) within the state. ​Governor Mbah praised the synergy among the various security agencies, noting that their proactive measures are crucial to restoring total peace and stability to Enugu State and the wider region. ​
“The commitment and gallantry displayed by our security agencies in neutralizing threats and recovering these dangerous weapons show that our strategy to make Enugu State safe for investment and living is yielding the desired results,” the governor said during the inspection. ​
The Enugu State Government has recently intensified its collaboration with federal security agencies to crack down on illegal sit-at-home orders, kidnapping, and violent crimes attributed to splinter groups in the zone.
​Governor Mbah reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy for criminality, assuring residents that the government will continue to provide the necessary logistical and intelligence support to security personnel to ensure the safety of lives and property.
