The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State has moved to consolidate political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections, intensifying grassroots mobilisation and internal alignment following the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Umar Namadi as consensus candidates for second-term bids.
The decision, announced in Dutse by the state APC Chairman, Ahmed Garba, reflects what party leaders describe as a strategic effort to build early unity and avoid internal divisions that could weaken electoral prospects.
Addressing party members and stakeholders, Garba said the endorsement by the APC Elders’ Committee was not made lightly but was grounded in what he termed “clear and measurable strides” achieved by both administrations. According to him, the elders conducted extensive consultations across party structures and communities before arriving at a unanimous position.
“At both the national and state levels, our leaders have demonstrated commitment to governance reforms and development,” he said. “The progress recorded so far gives us confidence that continuity will further stabilise and advance these gains.”
In a symbolic demonstration of that confidence, Garba disclosed that the elders had resolved to collectively purchase the nomination forms for President Tinubu and Governor Namadi when the time comes. The move, he explained, goes beyond mere endorsement, representing a tangible investment in the political future of both leaders.
Political observers note that such gestures, while largely symbolic, carry weight within party structures, often signaling strong internal consensus and discouraging potential challengers.
