Senator Adams Oshiomhole, representing Edo North Senatorial District, has challenged Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to clearly outline what economic and governance alternatives he intends to offer Nigerians ahead of the 2027 general election.

Speaking during a live appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today hosted by anchor Seun Okinbaloye in Abuja on Thursday evening, November 5, 2026, the former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman argued that opposition political figures have engaged in general criticisms without offering viable blueprint alternatives to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reforms.

”Peter Obi has not offered any alternative. I think it is you or someone else who asked him for security, what will you do differently? He said, it’s in his heart,” Oshiomhole stated during the broadcast. “I’ve always said that Peter Obi is a trader; the logic of a trader is short-term turnover. A statesman that Tinubu represents thinks of the next generation.”

During the television interview, Senator Oshiomhole insisted that the current administration is making necessary long-term structural corrections to the national economy.

He cited initiatives such as the national student loan scheme and recent federal labor interventions, including the ₦70,000 monthly transport relief package for civil servants, as concrete evidence of forward-looking governance.

Questioning whether an opposition government would roll back such programs, Oshiomhole contended that replacing an incumbent administration that has weathered initial reform challenges with a candidate lacking detailed policy proposals would disrupt national progress.

He further pointed out contradictions in opposition economic stances, arguing that Obi’s positions on key issues such as fuel subsidy removal remain elusive and difficult to pin down.

Following the Thursday night broadcast from the Channels TV studios, spokespersons for Peter Obi and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have yet to issue an official rejoinder to the senator’s remarks.
