The Kano State Government on Sunday dismissed widespread rumours of an impending security crisis in the state, assuring residents that Kano remains peaceful, stable, and fully under control.
The clarification followed a State Security Council meeting held on Sunday, attended by all heads of security agencies operating in the state. During the meeting, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf received a comprehensive briefing on ongoing security operations and the general state of safety across the 44 local government areas.
In a statement issued on Monday and signed by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Sunusi Dawakin-Tofa, the government stressed that there is no credible intelligence indicating any imminent threat to public peace or safety.
“The government wishes to categorically state that Kano is calm, and security agencies are fully prepared and alert to handle any situation.
There is no report or intelligence suggesting any form of crisis or disruption,” the statement read. Dawakin-Tofa urged residents to go about their normal activities without fear and warned against the spread of false information capable of inciting panic or undermining public confidence in security institutions.
He added that the government will continue to work closely with security operatives to maintain peace, protect lives and property, and swiftly address any emerging concerns.
The statement also encouraged citizens to rely on official sources for information and report suspicious activities through designated security channels.
