The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has celebrated its Director of Operations, Mr. Peter Gbejemede, for emerging as the Best Traffic Officer in Lagos State (Senior Category) during the 2025 Public Service Week.
Gbejemede received the prestigious award from the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, at a ceremony held to recognise and reward excellence among civil servants across the state. The event, which formed part of activities marking the 2025 Public Service Week, brought together top government officials, department heads, and representatives from various ministries, departments, and agencies.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mr. Gbejemede expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and the management of LASTMA for providing an enabling environment for officers to perform effectively. He dedicated the recognition to his colleagues, describing the honour as a testament to teamwork, dedication, and commitment to ensuring safer roads and smoother traffic flow in Lagos.
“I am deeply humbled by this recognition. It shows that hard work and discipline are never overlooked. This award motivates me and every LASTMA officer to continue giving our best in serving the people of Lagos,” he said.
The Head of Service, Mr. Agoro, commended Gbejemede and other award recipients for their exemplary conduct and contributions to the efficiency of public service delivery in the state. He urged civil servants to emulate their dedication and professionalism, noting that the government remains committed to rewarding outstanding performance.
In his remarks, LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, described Gbejemede as “a model officer whose leadership and operational excellence have greatly improved traffic management in Lagos.”
The recognition further reinforces the state government’s drive to promote a culture of merit and excellence within its workforce while encouraging innovation and integrity in public service.
