Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has dissolved the State Executive Council, relieving all commissioners and special advisers of their appointments.
The announcement, contained in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Habibat Adubiaro, on Monday, takes immediate effect. The statement directed the affected appointees to hand over all government property in their possession to the Permanent Secretaries or the most senior civil servants in their respective ministries.
Governor Oyebanji thanked the outgoing officials for their service and contributions to the development of Ekiti State, noting that their commitment and hard work had been instrumental in implementing key projects and policies during their tenure.
>The governor appreciates the dedication of the commissioners and advisers and wishes them success in their future endeavours,” the statement read.
Although no official reason was given for the dissolution, political observers believe the move is part of ongoing efforts to restructure the administration and inject fresh ideas into the governance process ahead of the next phase of Oyebanji’s development agenda.
The dissolution is expected to pave the way for the appointment of a new cabinet in the coming weeks, with speculation already rife about possible reappointments and new entrants.
This marks the first major shake-up of the state’s executive since Oyebanji assumed office in October 2022.
