Super Falcons forward Francisca Ordega visited the Yelewata Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Makurdi, Benue State, on August 5, 2025, donating relief materials to support victims of a deadly attack that occurred months earlier. The five-time Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) champion, moved by the plight of displaced families, provided essentials like food, clothing, and household items to aid those affected by the violence, which claimed several lives and left many homeless. Ordega, a Benue native, expressed solidarity with the camp’s residents, who warmly received her, voicing gratitude for her compassion.
The visit follows Ordega’s recent recognition by Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev for her role in Nigeria’s 2024 WAFCON victory, highlighting her influence both on and off the pitch. Her donation aligns with ongoing relief efforts in Benue, including a N1 billion contribution from First Lady Oluremi Tinubu for Yelewata attack victims. Ordega’s gesture underscores her commitment to her home state, where she urged continued support for IDPs and investment in grassroots sports to nurture talent.
