Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has said that transforming the nation’s capital into the vision of its founding fathers cannot be achieved within a two-year timeframe.

Wike made the remark on Sunday while inspecting ongoing projects in Abuja, stressing that the scale of infrastructural decay, population growth, and funding limitations require a phased and sustained approach.

“People expect us to turn around the FCT in just two years, but that is not realistic. Development is a continuous process, and we are working according to priorities and available resources,” the minister said.

According to him, the administration of President Bola Tinubu inherited several abandoned and underfunded projects in the territory, many of which are now being revived.

“We are not here to make empty promises. We will complete projects that are critical to the people and start new ones where necessary. But the idea that everything will change overnight is simply not possible,” Wike added.

He assured residents that his focus remains on improving infrastructure, boosting security, and enhancing service delivery, urging them to be patient and cooperative.
