The Arewa for Justice Assembly (AFJA), has called for the immediate and unconditional release of Bello Bodejo, leader of Miyetti Allah, condemning his detention by the Nigerian military as unlawful, inhumane and a violation of his constitutional rights.

The group in a statement by its spokesman, Comrade Musa Garba Yola accused the military of gross abuse of power under the leadership of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Musa

According to the statement, his wife, during a recent press conference, revealed the heartbreaking details that Bello Bodejo was already on medication when the military unlawfully seized him again.

The statement added that the action by the military is a flagrant defiance of constitutional provisions and a stain on the principles of justice and fairness that Nigeria claims to uphold.

Detaining a citizen without charges or access to the courts is a gross violation of the law and cannot be tolerated in a democratic society, AFJA added.

The group rejected the alleged illegal act and demanded the immediate and unconditional release of Bello Bodejo.

“We also call for his urgent reunion with his family, who have endured unwarranted emotional and psychological distress.

“We support the family’s plea for the intervention of all relevant authorities and stakeholders to ensure justice prevails.

“This matter is not just about Bello Badejo; it is about the principles of justice, fairness, and respect for the rule of law in Nigeria.

“We will not allow the rights of Northern Nigerians or any citizen to be trampled upon in this manner. Justice must prevail. Release Bello Badejo now,” the statement by the Arewa Assembly, read in part.
