2027: Yobe APC inaugurates 3 reconciliation committees

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yobe has inaugurated three zonal committees to reconcile aggrieved members of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Alhaji Idi Gubana, state’s Deputy Governor, while Inaugurating the committees on Wednesday in Damaturu, expressed optimism that the committees would resolve internal dispute and strengthen the party’s unity in the state.

Alhaji Muhammad Lamin will chair the committee in Yobe East, while Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu and Alhaji Suleiman Garba will chair the committees in Yobe South and Yobe North Senatorial Districts.

He listed the terms and references of the committees to include mediate dispute arising from the party ‘s primary elections, identifying aggrieved members and develop lasting and acceptable solutions.

Others are ensuring confidentiality in deliberations, deliver APC at all levels and working toward the party’s victory at the 2027 elections.

Gubana tasked the committees to submit a final report to the state Working Committee and harmonised reports, containing recommendations for sustained unity and strengthening the party’s support base and structures.

He said the committee was expected to conclude its assignment and submit its report within two weeks after its inauguration.

The state APC Chairman, Alhaji Muhammadu Gadaka, informed the committee members that their selection was based on merit, urging them to justify the trust reposed in them.

He directed the party’s officials at the local government levels to support the committee to deliver on its mandate.

Reconciliation move comes amid a court case involving Baba Wali, the state APC governorship candidate, and Alhaji Yunusa Maihaja, one of Wali’s opponents at the primary election.
