President Bola Ahmed Tinubu directly accused opposition political parties of creating the hunger and poverty currently confronting Nigerians, asserting that his administration is actively working to reverse the economic damage left behind by previous political leadership.

Speaking on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the official presidential campaign flag-off rally for the All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Ranchers Bees Stadium, also known as the Kaduna Township Stadium, in Kaduna State, President Tinubu defended his administration’s socio-economic reforms ahead of the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Addressing a crowd of party faithful and supporters, the President directly challenged critics of his administration’s economic performance. He noted that his opponents frequently talk about hunger and poverty, asking who created these conditions in the first place.

Reaffirming his administration’s goal, President Tinubu insisted that the opposition created the hunger and poverty, while his government is committed to eradicating them.

Dismissing political opponents as political failures who have little to offer the country, the President urged Nigerians to remain cautious and vigilant against misleading campaign narratives.

He claimed that opposition figures offer voters nothing but anger and hate, contrasting it with his administration’s focus on delivering economic consistency, sustained growth, recovery, and expanding opportunities for the populace.

During his address, President Tinubu also defended key policy decisions, including the removal of the petrol subsidy, describing it as a necessary step to curb economic leakages, invoice falsification, and cross-border smuggling.

He praised state governors, particularly those on the APC platform, for maintaining regular salary payments to civil servants and advancing infrastructural development in their respective domains.

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani also addressed the rally, highlighting federal interventions in state infrastructure and security improvements.

Governor Sani cited the rehabilitation of long-neglected roadways, including the release of ₦178 billion for the 123-kilometre Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road, as well as the reopening of hundreds of primary schools and healthcare facilities that had previously been shuttered due to regional insecurity.

Concluding his address, President Tinubu thanked the residents of Kaduna State for their electoral backing during the 2023 presidential election and called on voters to renew his mandate at the polls to consolidate ongoing economic recovery measures.
