Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has raised an alarm that political opposition groups have shifted from traditional social media strategies on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) to deploying Artificial Intelligence (AI) and synthetic media to wage disinformation campaigns.

Speaking on Saturday, October 24, 2026, during the formal campaign flag-off rally of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) held at the Murtala Muhammed Square in Kaduna, Governor Sani urged party faithful to remain vigilant against AI-driven political attacks ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Addressing thousands of party supporters, high-ranking government officials, and key APC stakeholders, Governor Sani alleged that opposition parties have abandoned physical grassroots mobilization in favor of AI-generated content, deepfakes, and manipulated video footage to misinform the public.

”The opposition has now upgraded their campaigns from Facebook to Twitter (X) to artificial intelligence (AI),” Sani declared. “I want to call the attention of our supporters to be very watchful, to be vigilant. The opposition is only campaigning with AI, no real campaign on the ground.”

The Kaduna governor emphasized that while the ruling party continues to connect directly with electorate communities across the country, political adversaries are increasingly turning to technology to distort key government achievements and fabricate narratives.

Reinforcing the governor’s warnings, officials from the APC Campaign Council issued formal statements cautioning party members and members of the press against unverified digital media.

APC Campaign Council spokesperson Felix Morka underscored that opposition groups are resorting to deepfakes and doctored audio-visual content after failing to present a tangible scorecard to voters.

Kaduna State APC Publicity Secretary Salisu Wusono instructed local party agents and youth mobilisers across all 23 local government areas of Kaduna State to verify social media claims before sharing and to focus on highlighting verified infrastructure and social intervention projects executed by both federal and state administrations.

The APC rally in Kaduna featured key political figures, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, marking the official launch of the party’s grassroots drive toward the 2027 general election cycle.
