The Zamfara Government has signed an Air Route Development Partnership Agreement with XEJet Limited to introduce scheduled commercial flights between Gusau International Airport and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony chaired by the state’s Deputy Governor, Malam Mani Mummuni, with the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Abubakar Nakwada, signing on behalf of the Zamfara Government.
The partnership is expected to improve connectivity while creating opportunities for business, investment, tourism and economic growth in the state. Under the agreement, XEJet will operate bi-weekly flights on the Abuja-Gusau route beginning next month.
The state government said the new service would make Zamfara more accessible to investors, businesses and visitors while improving the movement of people and goods. Speaking at the ceremony, Mummuni said the partnership aligned with the government’s objective of improving transportation infrastructure and supporting economic development.
He said the Gusau International Airport was constructed from scratch and completed within two years, with the aim of making transportation more convenient and efficient. The deputy governor said the commencement of commercial flights would also support the state’s efforts to attract international investors and donor agencies.
He added that improving accessibility remained a priority for the government as it sought to create a more conducive environment for business expansion and investment.
