The Zamfara State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension imposed on Amiru Keta, representing Tsafe West Constituency.
The Speaker, Bilyaminu Moriki, announced the decision during Monday’s plenary in Gusau.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Keta was suspended alongside seven other lawmakers for allegedly violating house rules and the Constitution.
Moriki said the decision followed a unanimous resolution by members after the house received an apology letter from Keta.
“The apology letter from the lawmaker was presented through the House Committee on Ethics and Privileges,” the Speaker said.
Earlier, Nura Dahiru, Chairman of the Committee on Ethics and Privileges, presented the matter before the assembly.
Dahiru, who represents Birnin-Magaji Constituency, recommended that the suspension be lifted unconditionally.
He, however, urged Keta to withdraw all pending court cases against the assembly and Zamfara Government over the matter.
Following deliberations and contributions, lawmakers unanimously endorsed the lifting of Keta’s suspension.
Moriki said the assembly remained open to other suspended lawmakers willing to apologise to the house.
He also commended the Committee on Ethics and Privileges for diligently carrying out its assignment.
