Brazil and Morocco secured crucial victories to tighten their grip on Group C, while Haiti and Turkey became the latest teams to see their World Cup dreams shattered. ​Brazil cruised to a dominant 3-0 victory over Haiti, bouncing back in style from their frustrating opening draw against Morocco.
Forward Matheus Cunha, brought into the starting lineup by manager Carlo Ancelotti, rewarded his coach’s faith by netting a first-half brace. ​VinÃcius Júnior was the architect of the night, setting up both of Cunha’s strikes before capping off a brilliant performance with a goal of his mustering in first-half stoppage time.
The defeat seals Haiti’s fate as the first team officially eliminated from the 2026 tournament, leaving them with zero points from two matches. ​In Group C’s other fixture, Morocco edged past Scotland with a hard-fought 1-0 win. Ismael Saibari scored just 71 seconds into the match, a blow from which the Tartan Army never fully recovered. ​
Despite late aerial pressure from Scotland, the Atlas Lions held firm to secure the three points. The result leaves both Brazil and Morocco tied at the top of Group C with four points each, while Scotland remains alive with three.
​Meanwhile, Turkey’s World Cup run has come to an early end following a brutal string of results in Group D. After suffering a shocking 2-0 upset at the hands of Australia in their opening match, subsequent group stage outcomes have mathematically eliminated the Turkish side from advancing to the knockout rounds.
