The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Benue Council, has advised journalists to take advantage of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to hone their skills and enhance their practice of journalism.
The council gave the advice in a communique issued at the end of its World Press Freedom Day activities and signed by Mr Selumun Mhii and Mr Terhemen Ater.
The council acknowledged that artificial intelligence has come to stay and that journalists must deepen their knowledge to harness its usefulness.
The NUJ encouraged the constitution of a body of media think tanks to sift AI effectiveness and efficacy without further delay.
It further advocated that AI be responsibly adopted to achieve good governance and protection of human rights.
The council called on the Benue Government to engage the NUJ and other stakeholders at the local level on various ways to enhance the practice for the benefit of the society.
