President Bola Tinubu has pledged his commitment and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to conducting peaceful, transparent and issue-based campaigns ahead of 2027 general elections.
Tinubu made the commitment as political activities gather momentum ahead of the elections, with stakeholders calling for campaigns focused on policies and national development rather than personal attacks and inflammatory rhetoric.
The President said his administration remained committed to strengthening Nigeria’s democratic process and ensuring that political competition did not undermine peace and stability in the country.
He also pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to promote a credible electoral environment where candidates and political parties could present their programmes to voters without resorting to violence or intimidation.
Tinubu’s commitment comes as preparations for the 2027 elections intensify, with political parties and candidates expected to engage voters on their policies and plans for the country.
The President urged political actors and their supporters to prioritise peace, national unity and the democratic process throughout the campaign period.
