The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially declared Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the winner of the state’s gubernatorial election following his decisive victory across 19 of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs). ​The announcement was made at exactly 7:24 am on Sunday at the INEC State Collation Centre in Osogbo by the State Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE).
​”Having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of votes, Ademola Adeleke is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” Prof. Ogunwole announced to party agents, election observers, and members of the press gathered at the collation centre. Saturday’s governorship election was conducted across all 30 local government areas in Osun State.
Adeleke secured victory in 19 local government areas, while his closest opponent won the remaining 11 LGAs. Formally delivered at 7:24 am on Sunday by State Returning Officer Prof. Joshua Ogunwole at the INEC State Collation Centre, Osogbo. ​Speaking shortly after the declaration, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Olawale Rasheed, praised the electorate for their unwavering support and faith in Governor Adeleke’s administration.
​”This victory is a resounding vote of confidence by the good people of Osun State in the leadership, transparency, and grassroots development delivered by Governor Adeleke. We extend our sincere gratitude to every citizen who came out peacefully to cast their vote,” Rasheed stated. ​Meanwhile, official opposition party representatives acknowledged the announcement at the collation venue while noting that their legal and technical teams would review the overall conduct of the election and collation details before issuing further official statements.
​Voting took place across thousands of polling units throughout Osun State on Saturday under calm and orderly conditions. Collation of results began late Saturday night at the local government levels before shifting to the INEC State Collation Centre in Osogbo, where final figures were verified through the early morning hours leading up to the official 7:24 am announcement. ​With this declaration, Governor Adeleke consolidates his mandate as he prepares to lead the state into his next administrative term.
