President Bola Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, declaring that the era of abandoned projects and hollow political promises in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and across Nigeria is over. Speaking through Vice President Kashim Shettima at the inauguration of the newly rehabilitated Aguma Palace–Radio Nigeria–New Market Road in Gwagwalada on Friday, Tinubu described the project as a symbol of restored trust and grassroots inclusion.
“This is the kind of democracy we believe in, one that listens, one that responds, and one that delivers,” Tinubu stated. He emphasized that the roads were not imposed by elites from Abuja but selected by Gwagwalada residents themselves. He added that his administration was bridging the gap between promise and performance, describing the project as a “corridor of dignity” for market women, schoolchildren, and local traders. “We are not just building infrastructure; we are building confidence and governance,” he said.
The president praised the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, whom he called “the most colourful politician in Nigeria,” for executing transformative projects in satellite communities. Wike, in his remarks, confirmed that the 10km road, along with the previously completed 9.5km Paikon-Kore Road, was chosen by residents, noting that its state prior to construction had caused immense hardship. Dr Mariya Mahmoud, FCT Minister of State, and Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, both described the project as a hallmark of inclusive governance and a direct result of Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
