Igbo church ministers under the aegis of The Concerned Igbo Ministers Commission (CIMC) have written an open letter to the South East Governors, urging them to prevail on President Bola Tinubu to release the detained Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In the open letter signed by Rev Tony Uzo Anthony, President General/ International Coordinator and ApostleTony Osuji, Secretary General, CIMC expressed displeasure that the president and the South East Governors have not done enough to ensure Kanu’s release.
“It is now evident that Mr. President and the South Eastern Governors took an oath not to free Nnamdi Kanu.
Last week, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, younger brother to Nnamdi Kanu revealed their deal with Seyi Tinubu, the president’s son, with the approval of his father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“During his campaign in Imo state, the president promised that Nnamdi Kanu would be released during his presidency, but nothing has happened in nearly two years now,” the ministers quoted Emmanuel as recalling.
CIMC said it is unfortunate that no South East Governor reminded Mr. President about Kanu’s release during his tour of the region, chiding that it has now become evident that the continued non-challance of the South Eastern Governors to the Kanu saga is the actual reason for insecurity in the South East.
