Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON), Anambra State Office II today the 23rd of July awarded Mandatory Conformity Assessment Programme (MANCAP) certificates to 16 companies in Nnewi and environs.
Some of the awardees are Jogoz Industries Limited; Pita Genesis Industries Limited; Emmy Chemical Industries Limited; S.K. Chemical Industries Limited; Pillar Pole Limited; Zingas Electrical Company Limited; Gozzy Frank Nigeria Limited; Junkeez Foods and Bakery Limited, among others.
The Director General of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, in an address read on his behalf by the Director, Anambra Directorate, Mr Agafie Gabriel, told the stakeholders that one of the foremost responsibilities of a regulator is to nurture businesses so as to position them for value addition to society.
The DG explained that SON’s mission is to promote consumer confidence and global competitiveness of Nigerian products and services through standardization and quality assurance
“Today, we gather to award the MANCAP certificates to deserving companies that have passed the rigorous processes set by SON. This certification is a testament to their dedication to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction,” he said.
“The benefits of product standardization are numerous: improved quality products, reduced cost wastages, enhanced customer satisfaction, value for money, and increased global acceptance of locally produced goods.
“By adhering to relevant standards, these companies have not only elevated their products but also contributed to the growth and development of our nation.”
He commended the State coordinator and the entire team of Anambra State Office II, Nnewi for what he described as their tireless efforts in ensuring that locally manufactured products are certified through the MANCAP scheme.
Stating that their hard work and dedication had not gone unnoticed, Dr. Okeke added: “To the certified companies and awardees, I offer my heartfelt congratulations. This achievement is a milestone, but it is not the end goal.
“Certification is not easily achieved or attained; it requires perseverance, commitment and a passion for quality.
“Therefore, I urge you to strive for excellence, to continuously innovate, and to aim at global recognition.
“As we celebrate this achievement, let us look beyond Nigeria and aim at global presence. Let us showcase the best of Nigeria to the world, and let us demonstrate that our products and services can compete in the global market, “he added.
The coordinator, Anambra State Office II, Chief Michael Chukwudi advised the awardees to not in any way lower their standards after certification, warning that any such discovery would lead to the withdrawal of the certificate.
He said the agency would, from time to time, pay surprise visits to companies to ensure compliance.
