​President Bola Tinubu on Thursday evening convened a high-level, closed-door security meeting at the Presidential Villa to conduct a comprehensive review of the nation’s security architecture and ongoing military operations.
​The strategy session, which lasted for over two hours, focused heavily on neutralizing evolving threats from terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping across various theatres of operation in the country.
​The meeting comprised the top echelon of Nigeria’s military command, intelligence community, and primary security advisers.
Those in attendance included Nuhu Ribadu, National Security Adviser, General Christopher Musa (rtd.), Minister of Defence, General Olufemi Oluyede, Chief of Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Emmanuel Undiandeye, Chief of Defence Intelligence, Adeola Ajayi, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mohammed Mohammed, Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Major General Adeyinka Famadewa (rtd.), Special Adviser to the President on Homeland Security and Olatunde Disu, Inspector-General of Police.
​According to sources familiar with the agenda, the deliberations come on the heels of intensified engagements in the North-West and North-East zones.
​The session follows a major July 7 breakthrough by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Zamfara and Katsina states, where precision airstrikes disrupted a massive terrorist convoy and neutralized a notorious bandit commander, Alhaji Tukur.
​Thursday’s strategic review is expected to result in realigned field directives and strengthened tactical coordination between the military and civilian intelligence agencies to sustain momentum against criminal elements. No official statement has been released by the Presidency regarding the specific outcomes of the briefing.
