The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) officially inaugurated its Governorship Campaign Council on Monday, October 26, 2026, marking a crucial phase in the party’s strategic preparations for the upcoming 2027 general elections. The inauguration ceremony commenced at 10:00 a.m. at the NAFOWA Event Centre, located within the Air Force Base along G.U. Ake Road in Port Harcourt.
The event drew a large gathering of political leaders, professionals, party delegates, and grassroots organizers from across all 23 Local Government Areas of Rivers State. The ceremony proceeded under the leadership of the ADC Rivers State Chairman, Chief (Engr.) Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa. Formal notices and operational guidelines for the inauguration were released in statements signed by the party’s State Secretary and official spokesperson, Hon. Sam Sam-Etetegwung.
The campaign council is headed by veteran political leader Senator Andrew Uchendu, who serves as Chairman, while Hon. Chimbiko Akarolo, former Chairman of the Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, was appointed as the Director-General of the campaign council. They lead a broader structure comprising deputy directors-general, directorate leaders, department heads, and grassroots coordinators tasked with driving campaign operations statewide.
During the proceedings, party leadership charged the council to immediately activate mobilization efforts across every ward and local government area. Council members were urged to align their efforts with the party’s central campaign message, “Building the Rivers We Deserve,” and to rally supporters under the official party slogan, “Arise and Shine,” as the ADC positions itself as a major contender in the state’s political landscape.
