The Police Service Commission (PSC) has dismissed media reports alleging delays in the promotion of police inspectors following the 2025 Departmental Selection Board (DSB) exercise.

Our correspondent on Friday obtained the commission’s position in a statement published on its official website on Thursday.

In the statement, the PSC said it “wishes to categorically rebut the claims made in the articles, which appear to be based on unsubstantiated anonymous sources and misrepresent the commission’s processes and commitments.”

The commission reaffirmed its dedication to transparency, fairness and merit-based promotions within the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

According to the PSC, promotions in the force are strictly guided by established procedures, including the successful completion of the Departmental Selection Board exercises.

It added that the process is carried out in line with statutory timelines and subject to the availability of required resources.

The commission stressed that it remains committed to ensuring due process in all promotion matters, noting that any suggestion of deliberate delay does not reflect the realities of its operations.

The PSC urged the public and the media to seek accurate information from official sources, assuring police personnel that their welfare and career progression remain a top priority.
