The Enugu State Police Command has launched a full-scale manhunt following the murder of prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) politician, Prince Ikechukwu Oloto, inside his residence in Nsukka.
​The 53-year-old politician, popularly known as “Okanga Mo,” was attacked on Thursday evening, September 17, 2026, at his residence located at Odenigbo in Nsukka Local Government Area, Enugu State.
​Confirming the incident on Friday, September 18, 2026, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the Enugu State Command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, stated that law enforcement received a distressed report around 5:45 p.m. regarding the attack.
​”Investigation is ongoing to unravel the circumstances surrounding the murder of Ikechukwu Oloto, male, about 53 years old, in Nsukka,” Ndukwe said. “The Police received a report on September 17, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m., that he had been found in a pool of blood in his residence. Operatives promptly responded and found him with deep suspected machete cuts to his head and stomach.”
​Ndukwe further disclosed that Oloto was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by the attending doctor. His body has since been deposited in the mortuary for preservation and autopsy while detectives track down the perpetrators.
​Oloto was a well-known political figure in Enugu State, having previously served in key leadership roles within the state’s APC structure. The identity of the assailants and the motive behind the violent invasion remain under active investigation.
