As Anambra gears up for the long awaited local government elections, a chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chinedu Obigwe, has said only the authentic leadership of the party will field candidates for the poll slated for September 28 .

Obigwe said genuine members of APGA are united and have made a vow not to accord any recognition to Edozie Njoku and his group, describing the court-installed National Chairman of APGA as “an impostor in APGA” and maintaining that Sly Ezeokenwa remains “the authentic National Chairman of the party.”

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently cited a court order and recognized Njoku as the National Chairman of the party and also published his name on its portal.

But in a statement made available to newsmen in Awka, Anambra State earlier today (Thursday, August 22), Obigwe insisted that Njoku is not recognized as APGA’s National Chairman

Obigwe, who is the National Coordinator of APGA Media, stated that the party’s genuine members only recognize Sly Ezeokenwa as the National Chairman and Anambra State Governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, as the national leader and Chief Ifeatu Obi-Okoye as Anambar State Chairman of the party.

He emphasized that the Anambra State Independent National Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) will not recognize Njoku’s leadership claim.

Obigwe further stated that only the authentic APGA leadership will field candidates for the forthcoming September 28 local government election, and only those candidates will be recognized by ANSIEC.

“The antics of the impostors in APGA will be nipped in the bud before the end of October this year. Anybody that wants to contest the forthcoming local government election in the state and is dealing with the impostors has simply entered a one-chance bus,” Obigwe warned.

“The authentic APGA leadership of Ezeokenwa as National Chairman and Obi-Okoye as State Chairman will field candidates for the September 28 election and only the candidates that emerged through them will be recognized by ANSIEC for the election.”
