*Warns mischief makers against spreading fake news of about ex-Governor’s death
An aide to the former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, Dr Ebere Nzeworji, has refuted death rumours about his principal, saying that the immediate past Senator representing Imo West Senatorial District is hale and hearty.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Nzeworji said a fake viral message has been on social media since the early evening of Wednesday, November 6, 2024, alluding to the demise of the former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha in a London hospital.
He explained that Okorocha who was seen at his Unity House, Garki, Abuja office around the same time of the commencement of the fake news, had just returned from Owerri, Imo State where he attended the funeral ceremony of Late Elder Statesman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, on Friday, November 1, 2024 and also hosted at his Spibat, Owerri Residence, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Right Honourable Benjamin Kalu and other Members of the House of Representatives.
Nzeworji said: “One can now begin to wonder what the motive of those behind this fake news really is.
“Senator Okorocha is a patriotic Nigerian who has served at the state and national levels meritoriously, courting the friendship of well-meaning individuals from across the country and the globe.
“The former governor has never wished anyone dead and he is always very cheerful and happy about the wellbeing of others.
“We therefore call on all well-meaning Nigerians and the global community to discountenance this fake news and to assure you that His Excellency, Senator Rochas Okorocha is hale and hearty.”
