A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on opposition figures to cease persistent criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the nation’s current economic challenges.

Speaking with journalists on Sunday morning, October 25, 2026, in Osogbo, Osun State, Oyintiloye argued that President Tinubu was not the architect of the economic troubles facing the country and required encouragement and support rather than harsh attacks.

Addressing reporters at a press briefing in the state capital, the former lawmaker cautioned politicians against politicising the prevailing economic situation or weaponising it ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Oyintiloye stated that none of the opposition presidential aspirants seeking office in 2027 possessed the track record or capacity to outperform President Tinubu, rendering their campaigns of criticism counterproductive.

”We should all remember that he was not the architect of the current economic challenges we are facing, and he cannot solve all the problems at once,” Oyintiloye said. “It would, therefore, be unwise to weaponise the current economic challenges, which the President is trying to address, against his presidential ambition.”

He noted that while the current economic reforms have introduced hardship, they remain vital for long-term national stability and are already laying the foundation for sustainable economic recovery.

While defending the administration’s macro-economic reforms, the APC leader urged President Tinubu to intensify interventions aimed at cushioning the impact of inflation and high living costs on vulnerable Nigerians.

Oyintiloye advised the Federal Government to review and expand existing social intervention programs to ensure relief reaches grassroots households effectively.

He expressed optimism that the President’s policy direction would ultimately deliver broad economic growth and secured reelection for the ruling party in 2027.
