The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has said 30 ships carrying petroleum products, food items and other cargoes are expected to arrive at three major ports in Lagos between September 15 and September 28. The vessels are scheduled to arrive at the Apapa, Lekki Deep Sea and Tin Can Island ports.
The NPA disclosed this in its Daily Shipping Position on Tuesday, stating that 10 of the incoming vessels would transport containers containing various goods, while five would bring aviation fuel. The remaining 15 ships are expected to carry crude oil, diesel, general cargo, bulk gypsum, fresh fish and bulk wheat.
The authority also reported that 12 ships and tanker vessels had already arrived at the three ports and were awaiting berthing. The vessels are expected to discharge bulk urea, petrol, diesel, crude oil and bulk salt. Meanwhile, 21 ships were already discharging different cargoes at the ports. The goods being handled include containers, fresh fish, general cargo, bulk pallets, bulk urea, bulk sugar, bulk salt, aviation fuel and petrol.
The latest shipping position reflects continued activity at Lagos ports, with vessels transporting petroleum products, agricultural commodities and other goods expected to arrive over the coming weeks. The NPA said the incoming vessels would add to the cargo-handling activities already underway at the three ports.
