The newly elected executive council of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association (NIJAA) paid an official courtesy visit to the management of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) on Monday, September 7, 2026, to solidify collaboration and foster institutional development.
​The meeting convened at 11:00 AM inside the Management Boardroom at the NIJ Campus, located on Ijaiye Road, Ogba, Ikeja, Lagos State.
​Led by the newly elected NIJAA National President, Mr. Olumuyiwa Akintunde, the alumni delegation formally introduced the executive council and shared their strategic vision with the institution’s leadership. Speaking on behalf of the association, Akintunde emphasized that alumni hold a vital responsibility in propelling their alma mater forward.
​”NIJAA is fully committed to deploying the vast experience, expertise, professional networks, and goodwill of its members globally to support the growth and sustainability of the Institute,” Akintunde stated during the session.
​He outlined priority areas for joint initiatives, including infrastructural development, student mentorship, career opportunities, and enhancing the institution’s reputational standing as Africa’s premier journalism training center.
​The delegation was warmly received by members of the NIJ management team. Speaking on behalf of the institution, management officials expressed gratitude for the association’s proactive commitment.
They acknowledged the essential role played by former students in shaping the school’s trajectory and confirmed readiness to partner with the new executive committee on meaningful developmental projects.
​The main spokespersons present at the meeting included; Mr. Olumuyiwa Akintunde, National President, NIJAA (Lead Spokesperson for Alumni), Mr. Dimeji Kayode-Adedeji – General Secretary, NIJAA, Mr. Mark Akhuetie, the National Publicity Secretary, NIJAA and NIJ Management Representative Speaking on behalf of the Governing Council and School Management.
​The two-hour session concluded with both entities agreeing to establish joint committees focused on driving immediate infrastructure and educational initiatives, ushering in a renewed era of partnership between NIJ and its alumni community.
