The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested a social media influencer and other suspects over their alleged involvement in a cocaine trafficking operation worth N39 billion.

The arrests followed intelligence-led investigations by NDLEA operatives into a drug trafficking network involved in the movement and distribution of cocaine. The operation also led to the seizure of a large consignment of the illicit drug.

The agency said the social media influencer was allegedly linked to the trafficking operation and was among those arrested during the investigation. The suspects are expected to assist investigators in uncovering the extent of the network and identifying other individuals connected to the operation.

The NDLEA said the seized cocaine was estimated to be worth N39 billion, highlighting the scale of the trafficking operation. It added that investigations were ongoing to establish the source of the drugs and trace other members of the suspected cartel.

The agency reiterated its commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks and preventing illicit drugs from reaching communities. It warned individuals involved in the illegal drug trade that it would continue to intensify intelligence-led operations across the country.
