Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Edo State Command, have arrested five suspects and destroyed a cannabis farm during separate raids conducted across the state.

The Edo State Commander of the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, saying the operations were part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to disrupt the cultivation, distribution and abuse of illicit drugs.

Ofoyeju said the raids targeted locations suspected to be involved in illicit drug activities. He added that the destruction of the cannabis farm would help prevent the cultivation and distribution of the substance within the state.

The NDLEA commander said the five suspects arrested during the operations were taken into custody for further investigation. He noted that the agency would continue to pursue individuals and groups involved in the illegal drug trade.

Ofoyeju reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking in Edo State. He said the NDLEA would sustain its operations to curb illicit drug activities and contribute to creating a safer society for residents.
